 Florida Dog Recipes

When training a dog, it is best to use small training treats that your dog can swallow fast without having to stop and chew. Here are some that have been suggested by people who train their dogs for competition.

Dried Beef Liver

1 pound of Beef Liver
3 tabelspoons of garlic powder or 1 clove ofminced fresh garlic Garlic Powder
2 or more quarts of water for boiling

Rinse the liver in cold water. Bring water to a boil in a large soup pot. Place the liver and garlic in the  boiling water. A simmer for 30 to 45 minutes or until cooked well. When cooked well, remove liver and let it cool. When the liver is cool, cut it into 1/2 inch squares.

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees

spread the liver cubes on a foil lined cookie sheet. Bake  for two hours or until dry to the touch. Liver may shrink to half it's size when done.

Store them in the freezer. I use zip lock sandwich size freezer bags.

Hot Dog Slices

1 lb hot dogs

Slice the hot dogs into 1/2 to 1/8 inch slices. place them on paper towels on a microwavable pan.

Microwave on medium for 3 minutes or longer until dry enough for your and the dog's taste. drain off excess oil with paper towels.

Store them in the freezer. I use zip lock sandwich size freezer bags.
